Work can take over my life for all kinds of reasons, but one of the more demanding ones is the role of Overnight Chaperone on teen weekend trips. I enjoy these excursions and am more than happy to support young people gaining more experiences in leadership, community service, and just plain fun.
Still, when the trips end, I make it a priority to treat myself to something big or small to bring me back to the world of adulthood.
Weekend leadership conference in Camden County ended, so I made a trip to Haddonfield, NJ. For BOOKS. I picked up a copy of something that had been on my to-read list for a long time.
The past week of my life was devoted to supporting (read: grocery and supply shopping for 30+ kiddos) for a Lock-In sleepover event. I got 2-3 hours of sleep Saturday night, but because the event went so well I had energy yesterday morning for a walk through Spring Lake, NJ. And a hot cup of tea outside at a cafe.
Beyond that, grown-up life means paying bills and taking out the trash and keeping yogurt in stock. I’ve come back to those things, too.
