I lost that entire month. Don’t ask me how!
Here is how (I think?) I spent September:
Cushaws and blooms:

Peppermint zinnias in a friend’s garden, and chocolate cherry sunflowers in mine. DELICIOUS.
My corn was done producing, so I dried the cobs that never got ripe for ornamental use. The old stalks are ornamental now, too.

This monarch took my breath away. Safe travels, friend, I planted my garden for you!!

I got to teach kids about monarch butterfly migration while inside a garden. Heaven!

Well, there was that one day I spent dreaming feverishly. My pharmacy is next to a Tim Horton’s and I got the flu shot and newest COVID booster in one day. There was a donut, and then there was a very long nap.

I took a day trip or two. Colonial-era towns in South Jersey and Eastern PA have given me lots of inspiration for fiction-writing this past year.

Middle of the month = disasters. A bunch of hurricanes hit and I barricaded indoors. Our fridge died and we lived without one at home for two weeks. Do not recommend! (But now we have a new one, and it makes fancy ice.)

Especially if one is trying to eat for digestive health, or just try to get more fresh and healthy stuff. Fresh needs a fridge!

I learned that my body will still wake up at 5 a.m. ready to write, without any coffee in my system. Minor miracle.
Rounded out the month with 36 hours in Montana and then attending a charming wedding along the Jersey Shore — those get their own posts, though.
I have been observing Spooky Season since Aug 17 or so, so. It just gets spoopier from here.
