Embracing Scorpio Season

Trinity Church Cemetery, Swedesboro NJ

I’ve been stitching this wasp; since the dead heat months of summer I’ve been thinking about wasps, hornets, stingers, venom, vengeance, and more. Something about the Scorpion season helps me dig deeper into this:

Also thinking about the Queen of Swords from the tarot deck:

We are hitting peak leaf season in my area of NJ. Been enjoying the changing colors at Memorial Lake in Woodstown, Ella Harris Park in Mullica Hill, and downtown Swedesboro:

Oh right, the leaf change can be seen from my own neighborhood, too:

We work hard in our household to cultivate a reputation for being a good Trick-or-Treat stop. Year 2 of giving out Pokemon cards (“Boo-ster packs”) as well as candy:

Been discovering nice treats for myself as well:

I also love sharing treats with adults! Last weekend I baked a vanilla poundcake as well as s’more brownies, and made some care package drops just because:

Halloween funfetti, always a hit (especially at a Game Night that proved to be too hot for costumes):

My zinnias have completely taken over, and I let them run wild:

I am still a major weenie but I completed a scary escape room and made it through two haunted attractions this season. 13th Hour did NOT disappoint! My adrenaline spiked, my heart raced, and I screamed way past the point of catharsis. … And slept peacefully the night after being scared out of my wits!

MUCH more my speed: Creepy organ music on a Friday night!

A phone recording really cannot do this justice but it was PERFECT to hear Toccata in B Minor this way:

Also fun to see a Loki Parade in a downtown Haddonfield window (somehow the only photo I snapped for at a fun Night Market there):

Must be a glutton for punishment because I’ve been driving, walking, and stitching to a creepy thriller:

Thank you to the public library for “A Flicker in the Dark” by Stacy Willingham!
