Again this year, I didn’t make it to AWP. That’s OK! I hope everyone who went had a fabulous time, and I will be back someday. Arguably the best thing I’ve done for my writing, not to mention my mental health, marriage, friendships, and physical health, is switch jobs. The transfer reset my Vacation Days to zero. That’s life. As of Feb 1st I have ONE Sick Day and ONE Vac Day, so an early February writers conference mid-week wasn’t happening. (BOOHOO for me, I went on the international trip of a lifetime in November, I know!)
It’s just that I am very over winter at this point. And I wanted to GO! Somewhere, anywhere, just for a weekend. So we drove to the Susquehanna River after a morning dusting of snow, for some time in Lancaster and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Here is the first thing I saw on the morning that we left:

The snow melted throughout the day, and roads were safe at least.

Though we’ve had days this month above 50 degrees, it was a cold weekend. After that first morning snow, though, the sky was clear.

We had a great time discovering a speakeasy in Harrisburg:

And to my mind, Midtown Scholar bookstore is worth a pilgrimage weekend:

Central Market in Lancaster is also a must:

I often joke that my mind is a Treat Map. I generally know where to find coffee, pastries, and other sweets.
Like Farmhouse Coffee in Downington:

And a pitstop at King of Prussia Mall:

The note I want to end on is: Check out my flower bulbs sprouting, even through the snow:

Even my windowsill herbs are saying: Spring is coming!

This beautiful quote brings a smile:
