Arcosanti, Arizona bills itself as an “Urban Laboratory.” It’s an architectural, environmental and political community built to waste fewer resources and enjoy the benefits of urban culture while still living in harmony with the natural landscape.
Construction began in the 1980s but the project remains unfinished. There can be so many human foibles that interfere with implementing a grand vision.
Arcosanti made me question the ways I think about community and communal living, and how deeply I live out my environmentalist beliefs.
It also seems like a great place to live while writing a space odyssey Sci-Fi series.
