What I Read in 2018

59.

That is the number of for-pleasure books I read this year.

More than ever I feel myself fighting to carve out time to read deeply and intentionally. I finished grad school this semester. For more than half the year I had a commute that kept me in the car 10+ hours a week. I moved apartments. I had a summer so rough I think it changed me forever, because I am not certain I have recovered yet.

But I read 59 books for fun, and I see independent presses made a strong showing on my list. That is a choice. Support independent presses and journals!

A problem I like having is: I read too many high-quality books this year. It hurts me to even consider taking any entry off this list:
