Longing for light and color in January

This past week, I got hit with the Winter Blahs. Not even sure that this is Winter Blues, but I am sick of gray skies, shoveling snow, and short amounts of daylight.

I am trying to find color where I can. Like in the last of my fun bath items from Japan — the most colorful bath salts. Plus my last bath bomb with a Kirby toy inside.

Please please please keep me grounded and just let me survive the Winter. Please.

I’ve done a pretty OK job of keeping with my resolution to walk in all weather and in all seasons (meaning Winter. I will keep walking in WINTER!). In sleet and snow and low temps, I suit up and walk at least my favorite neighborhood path.

I try so hard to see the frozen beauty.

Yes, this should have been covered with a tarp. But I am considering this A Pastoral Scene.

Frozen wasp nests are my VIBE.

… Did I say “treats”? I try to find treats where I can.

A nice thing I can say about January is: It’s Ramen and broth weather. (I think Pho is keeping me alive these days.)

The times I am happiest are the fires/puzzles/records cozy times.

And when a friend’s cat made a nest in my jacket I thought: I understand this and applaud it.

Other wintry joys:

A Martin Luther King Jr. day of service at a Community Health Fair.

A morning at home spent darning clothes to keep them out of a landfill:

A pretty bad horror movie that was fun to see with friends:

We got a record-setting day in terms of warmth this weekend, and for one day, it did not rain or snow. So the goal was to be out and about in Philly as long as possible. It helps!

Which also involved teasing a friend we’ve been trolling about The Police for ten, or maybe even fifteen, years. (Being just a little mischievous and silly helps the Winter Blahs in a big way!)
